Cancellation policy

If you cancel

More than 7 days before departure: 100% refund, processed automatically to the card you paid with. It reaches your account in 5–10 working days depending on your bank.

Between 7 days and 48 hours before: 50% refund. At that point the boat, the guide and in some cases the guesthouse beds are already committed.

Less than 48 hours before, or no-show: no refund. You may still transfer the booking to someone else, free, right up to departure — just email us their name.

Multi-day trips with guesthouse commitments follow the same schedule, but the 7-day window becomes 21 days for the 8-day Peaks of the Balkans route, which is stated on that experience page before you pay.

If we cancel

You choose: a free date change to any available departure, or a full refund of everything you paid, including any deposit. We do not offer credit notes in place of refunds.

We cancel for one reason only — safety. Wind on the lake, water level, storms on the passes, or a boat that fails its morning check. Rain on its own is not a cancellation.

The decision rests with the captain or lead guide on the day, and it is made in your interest even when it is unwelcome.

Weather changes during a trip

If a multi-day itinerary has to be altered mid-route — a pass closed by storms, for example — we reroute and cover the cost of the alternative transport and accommodation. If a whole day is lost, we refund the pro-rata value of that day.

On the water, if the Shala River section cannot be reached, the tour becomes a full gorge cruise and we refund €15 per person.

How to cancel

Reply to your confirmation email, or write to hello@komanilake.pl with your booking reference. WhatsApp works too. We confirm every cancellation in writing with the refund amount and date — if you did not get that confirmation, the cancellation did not register, so chase us.

Travel insurance

This policy covers what we control. It does not cover your flights, your other accommodation, or a cancellation caused by your own illness. That is what travel insurance is for, and we recommend buying it at the same time as you book.
